With 75 restaurants operating in the UK and Ireland, franchises situated across the globe and an online deli and food shop, Carluccio’s provide an authentic Italian dining experience with a modern twist.

THE CHALLENGE

Looking to update their website so that they could connect multiple services autonomously together to improve customer experience, Carluccio’s partnered up with leading eCommerce platform, BigCommerce, for their ability to bring together commerce and content-rich web design.

In order to build a site that was a content-led eCommerce platform with full CMS control, the only solution was to relaunch the website on WordPress with commerce powered by BigCommerce. Carluccio’s worked with Elite Partner agency 5874 in order to create a website that reflected their business model and connected their in-restaurant clientele with their online consumers through a rejuvenated website.

With eighty percent of the business’ ecommerce revenue coming from the two months leading up to Christmas, the challenge would be getting the new site up-and-running in a very short time frame.

SOLUTION

The aim of the new website was to enhance user experience in order to mimic the dining and deli experience at Carluccio’s restaurants. Processes such as booking a table, browsing menus, and delivering products online in the same way as the restaurants would ensure a successful marriage between the different clientele.

Award-winning work went into the integration of BigCommerce with WordPress, alongside bespoke created features such as in stock notifications, restaurant management, responsive menu display and an integration with Salesforce for customer relationship management, alongside many other high-level integrations. A huge amount of work was done in the backend, with a full integration layer working with James & James (for pushing in orders, managing stock and pushing back notifications), Givex (for both purchase and online redemption of gift cards) and financial reporting integration with Fourth Hospitality and Sage.
